Ran out of gas but Bronco says I have a quarter of a tank. [Update: still not restarting after adding gas]

What gives???? I reset everything on the dash and hope that helps, not sure what happened. Now I don't want to go anywhere below half a tank. And with the mileage I've driven since I filled up, I should have a quarter tank left.....

Update! OK, 90% sure it's the fuel pump. I hope they reimburse me for the tow.....

E means Enough and F means Fill Up, right? Got to be a sensor problem, but not sure why it would have died on you with gas still in the tank. This guy ran about 40 miles after it said 0 miles to E which is insane.

I have already filled my tank once, with the pump reading @ 21.5 gallons. The instruments were indicating 14 miles to empty….

Fuel pump went out, type in fuel pump on the forum and you will see what we're talking about.

Sounds like a batch of bad gas. Call your last fuel station before issue surfaced and ask if they have had other complaints. could be water in the fuel.

I guess I've never tried to run a vehicle that far past E before. Having about 3 extra gallons in a tank just seemed like a lot to me.
