Rear diff (skid plate) protection for the rocks

Well I ordered an RC diff cover for the Dana 220 rear of a jeep figuring it’s the same diff right? Nope. Ours has more meat in the bottom of the casting. Fast forward to the Dv8 skid unit.
so today the DV8 shows up as luck would have it the bronco was already up on the lift in my shop. After just finishing the 1/2” of body lift. So I think the DV8 missed the mark as there’s no pinion protection and the rear cover is unprotected as well. So I cut up the rough country skid and added it to the DV8.
what do you guys think?

I have the dv8 diff skid sitting in my garage too. But today I installed the hammer built tailgate reinforcement.

It’s a nice piece but it needs just a bit more protection

The RCI diff skid looks like what you were hoping to get out of either of those kits you merged together.

Glad to see someone actually modding parts. Way to many companies are making useless junk or not doing any testing. @DV8offroad I would buy this.

So I looked at the RCI unit it gives up a bunch of clearance on either side of the differential. The DV8 is a high and tight unit. Now I’m not finished with my hybrid skid plate. Going to cut the front off of the RC plate and weld it to the DV8 as well as weld the two plates together at the rear not just bolt together. This will give me protection of the pinion and c/v. I also need the add some plate on the lower left where the two don’t match up

Love that bumper! I'm to cheap to buy one I'm going to have to make one. I need to find a steel place with a scrap area nearby.
