I ordered my hoist from Lange Originals they made my hoist so it would only remove the clam shell Love the way it works makes removing and storage simple.

Looks great, could you have mounted the cross boards on top of the rafters (rather than the bottom edge) to give you more clearance? My garage ceiling is sheet rock, but am considering opening it up to see if I can move hoist up and gain more clearance. Would you mind sharing what your hoist set up cost?

No I couldn’t i have a short rafter night 8’3” but I have plenty of clearance when I lift the top. Lange Original is pricey but well worth the price.

I did a similar set up for $210.00. Someone on here did and I mimicked the same set up. Here is the link. I added the rollers so.I have some movement for the lift if needed.

Big issue with that setup is you have to leave the rear hatch up. I don't know of many garages with that much depth.

Any chance you can measure from the winch mount to the bottom of the top? I just ordered the same customized setup from Lange and working out the location in my garage now.

Is it an option to buy it that way or did you have to contact them directly to customize it. I love their set up but don't feel comfortable lifting the middle section with the clam shell. This is exactly what I would want.

I ordered mine customized to lift only the rear portion and should be receiving it tomorrow. I would send them an email. Max is very responsive and given that I just ordered the customized version, they should be able to repeat it for you as well.
