Dear friends,

Wolfbox needs your help please! We are looking for some informative input or generic demand from you guys regarding cameras. To get you started, here are some questions:
  • When you are towing a trailer, what do you want to monitor and why?
  • How do you like to mount cameras?
  • What do you concern the most when mounting the cam?
Any other information is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I think if trailer towing is the focus then being able to see the hitch to align up and attach the trailer without having to get out of the vehicle several hundred times would be ideal. That is the reason truck manufacturers have added a second camera to the tailgates. Maybe if there was a simple way to tilt the current rear view camera for hooking up the trailer and then back to normal.

I have a WOLFBOX for my Christmas gift from kiddos...I plan on mounting my rearview camera to the third brake light on the bronco. So I would like something stronger that double sided tape. I always worry about longevity with that stuff.

Hope any of that helps.

Cheers.

Isn't much to ask for. My camera is mounted inside the wheel in back. Being able to see what's tied down on the trailer is a big plus as the regular rear view mirror can't do this. Make's it much easier to monitor straps and whatnot.

As I've already told your customer support, my biggest concern is getting water on the lens, that makes the camera un-usable when it happens. Rain X helps, but doesn't fix this, I still need to dream up some sort of deflector to keep moisture off the lens.

My trailer issue isn't something that can be solved with my current Wolfbox rear camera, which is mounted in the spare tire of my Bronco Raptor. The problem is my trailer has a rock guard that effectively blocks the view from the OEM and Wolfbox cameras. So I got a couple magnetic mount, wireless solar powered cameras to throw on the backside of the rock guard, and at the back of the vehicle I'm trailering so I can see both the vehicle on the trailer and the view behind the trailer.

So if you could build a wireless receiver to grab the wireless video from my wireless solar cameras and display on the Wolfbox so I don't have to have a separate monitor mounted on my dash, that would be the only way I could think of making the Wolfbox even better. (And maybe higher resolution rear camera).

Other than that, I love my Wolfbox. My video on IG is over 1.6M views: ""

I posted a thread quite a while back wondering why I couldn’t use the factory backup camera while going forward like I could on my Gladiator. Some of the guys that are Forscan savvy tried to figure out a way to make it stay on while going forward but nobody figured it out. I like being able to have the backup camera on while pulling a trailer so I can watch my hold down straps and the load on the trailer. I leave my rear camera on on the motorhome when I am towing.. High mount is probably best. But anything is better than nothing.

PS, I also liked to be able to get a close-up of a license plate that might be tailgating me for whatever reason.

Thank you for your reply. You can keep the rear cam on if you don't connect it to reverse light. You can swipe to the rear view or use voice control.
A close-up feature can be usful. Thanks again. Cheers!

When I'm towing, this is what I use, and what I wish I had.

Being able to see the hitch when connecting. The OEM Bronco backup camera works well for this. See below for my Wolfbox setup and why the OEM camera works better for me..

Being able to watch the load on a flatbed trailer. The Wolfbox camera works GREAT for this.

Being able to see the hitch while driving. The OEM camera won't allow this. My Wolfbox camera is mounted in my spare, it won't scroll quite far enough to see all of the hitch, but it's close. I could adjust the mount and make it better but it would affect where I want it aimed for normal driving.

When pulling a box trailer or camper, being able to have the option to connect to a camera on the back of the trailer would be wonderful. Possibly a wired connection that connects at the hitch next to the lights pigtail without disabling the other cameras. Some folks are using the third camera for this with the wiring harness extension Wolfbox makes. Wireless would be better. Wireless to the back of the trailer and still having a front bumper camera would be better still.

FInally, Chevrolet offers "transparent trailer view." If you don't know what this is, look it up. it makes your trailer "see through." The competition to Wolfbox makes a similar product that includes a wireless camera. If I was pulling a camper with my Bronco, this is likely what I would be using. I won't post a link here and hijack the thread, but it's easy enough to find.
