Ford Bronco Waterproof sunshade / emergency soft top for rain? IMG_6350

is there any company that could make a waterproof sunshade to stow in your Bronco that fully covers the roll bars so water does not get in if you get caught in the rain with no top on your vehicle. Perhaps it could hook into the roll bars as this one does, but then maybe some extra length on each side with small magnets in the flap to hold them over the roll bars so the rain flows off the edge.

This is to aid in the unfortunate event that you do not have a top on your vehicle and are out n about and unexpected rain pops up so you can drive home without getting the inside of your vehicle soaked.

Also, if it could protect the speaker and the back somehow, that would be fantastic haha

Many companies make a tarp. Learn it. Love it. Buy it.

Wherever you areā€¦ having a tarp over your vehicle would inhibit driving, no?
No.

Used to keep one in my '88 YJ for such a purpose. Neve had a top for it.

Strap down tarp. Drive home. Done and done.

Iā€™m thinking more of an option where you can drive home and not be stuck
Good point, I have a ā€œcab coverā€ in case of downpour when out and no top, but it covers from windshield wipers to spare tire and bottom of doors, (so no driving with it installed). Most all ā€œBiminiā€ type covers Iā€™ve seen are not waterproofā€¦watching and please post what you come up withšŸ‘

If nothing else for emergency use you could cut a black plastic tarp to size and use the tie down holes front and rear and roll the windows up on it on the sides to secure it. You still get some water in at the front.
These days, at least around here, rain predictions are pretty accurate. And I bought our Bronco with marine grade vinyl and wash-out floor for the odd caught in the rain situation.

1. Get a canvas bimini top.
2. You're kidding yourself thinking a bimini will keep water out in the case of rain at speeds greater than 25mph

I am not thinking of something to keep it bone dry in a downpour. In Illinois we get some crazy weather so I just wouldnā€™t mind having something that if the forecast was nice and some clouds starts forming, I could throw on to not have an absolutely soaked cab. And just saying it seems like not a completely ridiculous product idea compared to some of the stuff I see out thereā€¦

What you describe is a Bestops full soft top. Easier to fold down than the Ford soft top.

I would be interested in this too. I would totally buy something sized to fit that can be really quickly thrown on that costs less than $100.

I had one on my '78 CJ5 and it was fantastic. I've been waiting for one of the mesh vendors to just switch to a water resistant material but I'm surprised it's taking them this long.

Along the lines of my product strategy of just building what I want for myself, I've considered just building my own, but I know that as soon as I do that, one of the bigger mesh retailers will come out with their own versions.
