That is the lane centering assist. That might not be the right name for it, but basically if you drift out of your lane it will bump your wheel back towards the center. You can turn it off completely, or adjust the firmness of the assist in the settings. Personally I'm not a fan, but maybe they have improved since 2013.

Personally I'm not a fan, but maybe they have improved since 2013.

I believe it has -- we appreciate its presence in our 2018 F-150 and 2019 Mustang.

Bumping this thread with an update. The button does turn on/off the Lane Keeping System. https://www.ford.com/technology/driver-assist-technology/lane-keeping-system/

I had to turn the system off because the sensitivity on the steering wheel sensor is too low. When I have it on, the system is constantly alarming and telling me to put both hands on the steering wheel.

My '18 F150 had a previous version of this that was much more functional and rarely took issue of the way I handled the steering wheel.

Reminds me back in the day, riding with my Dad in his '87 bronco and me seeing the buttons for cruise control and reaching for them, only for him to knock my hand away and say "WATCH IT! those are the torpedos!"
I remember thinking ohhhh yeah the torpedos! I was 7.
