My rear passenger window won’t stay up. Whenever I put the window up when it gets to the top it will automatically come down.

The auto up function also doesn’t seem to work. I have tried resetting the window by putting it down and holding for 5 seconds then going up and holding for 5 seconds(although it won’t stay up)

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Mine does the same thing for that window every once in a while. I forget the exact sequence but should be along the lines of when it kicks back down from the auto up you have to hold the up switch until it goes up and stays closed for at least 5 seconds but it may be longer so try that. It may also bounce back down a second time for mine but i can't remember. I don't think I've ever hit and held the down switch so that may be your issue. It's definitely finicky sometimes. I've reset mine and had it stay up and then tested it to only have to do the procedure again. Once it takes it seems to be good for a while.

I get the process to relearn, but I just don't understand why it happens in the first place. Is it because the door gets shut more or less and the window motor senses there is too much force needed to close? I pray that it never happens when it's raining.

I got you. This seemed to help us, but if it not working you may need to clean the area.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Tried to just hit the up button but didn’t seem to work. Just goes down again. Will try to clean it to see if that works.

badly done video.

He starts with the window bouncing back down to the middle open position, then he immediately cuts to "hold the switch up for two seconds" with the window not moving.

He completely didn't mention that he's doing this starting with the window in the fully closed position. Which it won't be, can't be, unless you've already managed to get it closed.

Instead of just resetting the one you have issues with, reset both at the same time. It worked for me.

Happened to me yesterday when I tried closing the rear passenger window, it kept automatically going down. So I rolled it up again and held the button up for about 10 seconds, then turned off the vehicle. It worked and stayed closed. I was parking when it happened, so I was able to turn the car off. All good now. This has happened before while I was driving and as I recall, I rolled it down and held the button down for 5+ seconds, then rolled it up and held the button up for 5+ seconds, then it worked. Good luck. I know it’s a pain!

I'm having this same issue with the same window - rear passenger - every time I use Global Windows on the key fob (double click and hold the unlock button). Otherwise it never happens. Every time, once it kicks back down, with the door open I press and hold upward on the window switch in the backseat and that relearns the window. But like OP, I can't figure out the cause, especially since I have no issues rolling that window up and down frequently. I typically roll all 4 windows down when I drive so I roll that window up and down frequently. Just always needs a relearn only when I use Global windows. Ideas as to why this is happening?

This is not an issue - its working as designed!

I have the same issue on occasion, no idea why Ford can't get this right. The reset usually work for me as well. Good luck and maybe someday there is a proper fix for us!

The key to the reset procedure actually working is to NOT pull the window switch all the way up or press it all the way down when doing it. There are two tactile “click” positions each for up and down. The second (full lift/press) is the auto open/close. Don’t use that for the reset process. Carefully pull up and press down only to the first tactile click position which is the manual open/close.

I learned this the hard way trying to reset my back passenger window about 30 days after purchase.

Also recommend you wipe the weather strips and window edges down to get dust off before trying a reset so there is minimal friction for the window as it slides up.
