Windshield coating for rain?

Resurrecting this thread for a mystery I found in the owner's manual - in the online HTML owner's manual, one of the lines in the Washer Precautions section says this

Avoid using washer fluid additives that contain silicone. Products that contain silicone provide a water repelling effect that can damage the wiper and washer system over time.

However, in the PDF copy of the manual there is no such warning. Wonder which one I'm supposed to trust?
