I’m located in the Fort Worth area and am considering upgrading from 32” to 35” tires, so I’m looking for an inexpensive shock option that can provide a 2” lift. This is primarily a trial run since I’m not certain how much I’ll actually like running larger tires. I also have a bad back, so if the ride ends up being too harsh, I may need to return the vehicle back to the stock setup. My original plan was to install a spacer lift, but I’m hesitant because I don’t want to negatively impact my factory suspension. I’m also unsure how long a spacer could reasonably be run without causing issues, though ideally I’d like to test the setup for at least 1,000 miles.

You can likely find some takeoffs locally, but if not you can ping Hellabad broncos in Austin, I know he has some around (tell him Justin sent you).

The Yellow Bilstiens are pretty soft, I wouldn't worry about them being too harsh relative to the stock hitachi.

Be careful on the SAS take-offs...they may fall under the recall for the reservoirs falling off. I don't recall the date range...'21 thru mid-'24 maybe.

Pretty sure resevoir issue is only in winter states I got some take offs and were perfect.

Tire choice will be critical for comfort. E.g my Blizzak DMV2 are very firm while Michelin LTX Trai have a very smooth ride on Bilstein Yellow Hoss2.

You definately dont want Hitachis they have way to much brake dive and body roll plus risidual motion.

I was able to source a set of SAS shocks locally and plan to pick them up tomorrow. I also found a nearby shop selling used KO2s.

Do you think it would be okay to install the tires first before swapping in the shocks? The round trip to the tire shop is about 40 miles, and I’m planning to complete the suspension upgrade next weekend.

NP w tire install first. Double check those tires for date code, wear, and load rating you want max 3 yr old, and SL 112-116 load rating for intended use. There are lost of take offs avail especially in 275-65-18 that are perfect size for OBX.

Thanks, I couldn't tell from the pictures he had so I asked for another with the date. Load rating said C which I think is ok. $500 with install, seemed like a good deal to me.

You’ll need to remove the crash bars before putting them on more than likely
