Insider Claims Bronco Raptor, 2.7L Twin Turbo Engine Coming

New insider information passed along to our friends at TFLCar echoes much of the whispers we have received over the last year about the 2021 Ford Bronco.

This info indicates that Ford has given the green light to development of a Raptor version of the next-gen Ford Bronco. To date, our own sources confirmed that the vehicle has been in serious consideration but not yet 100% confirmed. Certainly the news of a potential Raptor is not surprising, or news at all, unless Ford has indeed signed off on the project.

The insider information published by TFLCar also claims that a twin turbo 2.7-liter V6 engine will be offered. We previously reported that our sources have indicated to us the 2.7-liter will be offered in addition to the 2.3-liter EcoBoost. That it could be the same twin turbo 2.7-liter engine shared by the Ford F-150 or Ford Edge ST would certainly be a natural fit for an upper trim Bronco.

While the prototypes that have been seen to date are early X-1 prototypes, the source has revealed a number of the prototypes are codenamed “Rock Monster” — no info yet on this but read the full report and keep tuned as we dig deeper!
