Finally put some bass in the Bronco!

I previously upgraded the 4" speakers with a Kicker KS Series Low Profile set. Fit well and sounded way better the stock. The system was definitely still missing any kind of bass.

So thanks to 67BroncoG1 for finding the plugnplaykits.com harness so a guy like me with zero audio experience was able to install and amp and sub. I used Kit 34 which gives you an Kicker 800 watt amp and 17ft wiring harness. The harness couldn't be easier to install. It does not amplify the factory speakers which I didn't find necessary.

The more difficult part is routing the amp power cable, & harness through the drivers side interior panels. Probably 2 hours for the full install. Still not super happy with the amp location and will likely hide it.

Parts:
Kicker 45CWTB104 10" 400W Enclosed Tube
Kicker CK4 Amp Install Kit
Kit 34 with Kicker CXA800.1 Amp

Sounds awesome with tons of thump!

I have a Bazoka tube powered 10" sub that I'll swap over whenever the Bronco comes in. The best placement (per the instructions) for sound is rear firing into the back corner leaving about 12" between woofer and tailgate - you might try that placement. Nice install!

Make sure to update us in a week, month, and 3+ months to let us know how you like it and how the functionality works for you with it smack dab in the center like that.

Still playing with the locations but I can tell you already that it's impractical. Thankfully the trunk rarely gets used.

I'm not sure if I could really tell or not, but I used to religiously follow the ole common knowledge of placing a subwoofer as far away from my ears as possible because of the sound waves. It always sounded great, but that may have been more due to the quality of the rest of my installation.

The real question is what powered sub will fit under the seats.
There was a thread on it. Custom box with two 6.5" subs. I was afraid to crush the amp under there when folding the seat down. That's how tight it is.

Ahh ok. They always say they’ll fit under the seats but real world ain’t so

So all you had to do was connect the harness and then connect the amp to the battery correct?

Correct. No cutting into the factory harness. Just popping panels off.

The real question is what powered sub will fit under the seats.
Some enterprising speaker company should make a marine-grade speaker enclosure for under the front seats.

Down-firing with water sealed connections, 300HZ —> 80HZ (only so far without space / size).

$$ take my money $$

[Edit: Meant the front seats. Hadn’t thought about the back..]

What’s the company that makes the fiberglass box that fits on the tailgate?
