I don't understand why such a basic item like this isn't created by 3rd parties, much less Ford themselves. While 4-doors I am sure outsell the 2-door, I can't imagine 2-door sales are a minuscule fraction of the 4-door.

Anyone ever find a solution here? I am considering asking a neighbor who is a wood worker if he can fabricate a cover that would bolt down using the hard top bolts and cover the area between back of seats and tailgate...I did find this and it might work....

I use the jcr tray in the summer when I have the top removed. There’s still enough space for a hand to fit in between the tailgate and tray to steal small stuff if wanted. Better than nothing

yeah I saw that on the reviews...I guess they could also just pull the seat popping cords and go that route...I dont leave it in random places very long unattended but looking for something that keeps someone from just walking by and grabbing my rain cover etc.....I was also thinking about one of the mesh covers that you can get made by Raingler but not sure if it would flap or make noise from the wind.

That is what I have installed. Primary use is a shelf/storage, but doubles as an effective cover when roof is off. Note, it does not prevent theft of items in the cargo area when the roof is off, since the rear seats can be folded down.

@superchar1982 @CarGuy can you take a pic of the gap for me (and others that will inevitably find this thread when looking:)

Can’t take a picture at the moment…it is at the shop getting a new windshield. The gap between the rear seat and rear wiper motor is adjustable. Mine just touches the back seat and about a finger with at the rear wiper motor. IMO, perfect fit.

This is the best I have right now since I only mount it in the summer when the top off is off. Gap fits a hand between the tray and tailgate. I’ll post a better pic when it’s mounted again if no one else is able to post one sooner

Thank you, I have one OTW and I guess I now understand the gap is there to make the window wiper motor...I think i am going to try and rig something up that attaches the seat flipper pulls to the shelf....stay tuned :)

I went with JC Offroad’s interior cargo basket, for when I have the top off. As long as you lock the doors there’s really no way to access the rear storage area, unless you flip the seats down. It does have holes in it, so it’s not waterproof, but combined with the BronCover, which only fits with the top removed, it’s a good solution for my needs. If you need something sealed or waterproof, it would probably be custom. 🤷🏻‍♂️
But here’s what I use
Hope it helps or inspires a new design

I considered having a plate welded to the basket, along the back of the seats, but I don’t think it would stop someone who really wants whatever is in the back.
When I go topless, I try to keep stuff at a minimum. No sense in them breaking anything for spare change and a set of tools.
