Waldens Ridge Trail 75 Windrock 10/28/23 Halloween run (1st 6g here?)

Everyone airing down and the two first generations staging for the assault.

I'm not going to tell you the shrieking noises made by all.

We climbed out to this edge. Once on top you cut hard and back up to get out on the ridge.

This is the approach, the first Rocks are the gatekeepers, if you can't do this; you have no business here.

The LJ did well here.

This photo was just after he bicycled this LJ so far I think everyone thought he was going for the ride over this edge. The Rocks throw you toward the edge. The pravailing solid axle wisdom is to lock both axles before the lean, then give it the skinny pedal till the back end starts to climb.

Lots of tire positioning technical wheeling on this corner as you turn out on the ledge.

The rock in the foreground is where I was when the front driver's side axle snapped. I had just used the trail turn assist to get lined up here.

I will try to get all the pictures and videos up soon. This is just what my wife got. Now I just have to figure out how to put video on the interweb.
I did make all of the first two sections and that is conquering the hardest part of this section of trail. Wish I'd had a spare axle so I could have finished the trail. I'll go back one day when it's dry like it has been here.

*Edit* There is a rougher section of this trail further up. i'll get all the photos I can. one first Gen and I had to winch here. I think the whole rest of the group drove through. The tougher section everyone winched. I had taken the go around back to pavement by that time.

I wish they made the half shafts symmetrical so you only needed one spare.

@Tricky Mike you would have loved this trail. Lots of winching If you want to be safe. One first generations and the two TJs were the only ones without winching, or highlift... two TJs had safety straps to the cage on the lean.

Time for some RCVs. Looks like a blast although a lot of work I am going to try to head to the park maybe next 2 weeks just to do some exploration and more in Dec. I spent all day yesterday on mostly service roads in northern GA.

You would have been able to do that. You do need beadlocks and a winch. I was super surprised at the axle break.
