Absolutely no idea! I speculate that they need white claws, parts and lube. What happened?
Seems the puppers isn’t the only one doing some fishing…Absolutely no idea! I speculate that they need white claws, parts and lube.
Next day air services are reserved for influencers, you silly goose. Or rigs that have structural breaks in the middle of the trail that will be used for the races that they tout so much on all their marketing. Gotta get it out of sight so they can keep talking about how strong everything is!Impressive! So did 74Weld next day air one your way? Are you even on speaking terms with them? Or did you just pull and limp it out?
On the note of limping it out-quite the learning experience. It seemed like the dead portal acted like an anchor over the smallest of ledges to climb. Naturally with the diff locked the opposite side is spinning and will push your front end to the side when the dead portal would get hung up, but it was very very different trying to pull the unpowered portal corners vs pushing the fronts up and over. We aired the dead corner up completely but still-anchor effect. It was like trail turn assist was on and dialed up to 11. We would have to adjust the lines to try to get that corner to hit first, but as you know that isn’t always possible. Would often disengage the rear locker and just let the fronts try to do the work, but now you effectively have two anchors. Had to take a winch or rope quite often with this situation. Wifey picked up on how to fight it but still-not always possible to simply take an alternative line on the Rubicon. Seems like there might be an explanation somewhere in this observation as to why the race guys don’t run portals in the back.Impressive! So did 74Weld next day air one your way? Except that is a full float Dana 44 with aftermarket hardened axles. I doubt you could mate those to a Dana 60 without changing the gears in the portal.... Axle diameter and teeth would probably not match.Your not the first to kill a Semi Float Dana 60 rear. Just wonder if it really is safe to run something stronger and risk nuking a portal on the trail.
Interesting that you had issue with the portal free spinning limping out. I would definitely crack the box when you get home and check the bearings. I have a hard time believing it was just gear drag.
Full float dana 44 on 1.22 gear reduction, but yeah. Honestly if it weren’t for all the other shortcuts these guys have took in their production, the axle is not really something I would be giving them shit for. Fatigue is accumulative. Bend a piece of metal enough times and it will always break. Especially if that metal is 300m sourced from temu.Your not the first to kill a Semi Float Dana 60 rear.
