You know... it does make you wonder why some folks (like me) have zero problems, and why some folks have had multiple tops.

You wonder if some MIC tops were built in one factory servicing one part of the country, or on one line in that factory, or they're put on torqued wrong by Ford, or how the glass is installed into the top... or what?

Probably never to be solved, but a curious problem just the same.

It is an Eleanor, but not mine. Just happened to be next to mine in the detailer shop that day. It's built on a 2012 Mustang chassis. Here's some other pics:

Gorgeous, not sure how nobody else asked before me.

No cracks so far on my 2024 WildTrak. Built 11/24, purchased 1/25, 10,600 miles.

Admittedly still newish. It is always garaged during non-work hours. I do apply Formula 303 Protectant on occasion in the hopes of keeping the outer shell from drying out. I use a power washer (at a safe distance) when hand washing. It has never been through an automatic car wash.

Some honeycomb patterning is visible, especially when the top is wet after washing it.
Well, I jinxed myself. I just noticed two tiny cracks starting on the driver's side of the clamshell, just below the glass. They are really small.

The rear clamshell has never come off.

I'll bring it up next time I go in for service.

I have 57K miles on my 2022 two-door Bronco Badlands Sasquatch with the MIC top. It has no cracks or waffling. I park in a carport and have driven in sand, snow, mud, desert, rock crawling, an abandoned gold mine, and rain storms. The top was replaced before being put on the lot for sale. Yes, on the lot. It was special ordered and the buyer couldn't wait for it to arrive, so it was put on the lot, for sale. It was there only two days. I saw it and bought it. I have had a few inconveniences with minor problems, but warranties have handled almost all of them. I kind of like my bronco....

I feel like its a matter of when not if, but I would like to see are there folks out there who haven't had their hardtop crack. Please mention whether if its a 2dr or 4dr and parked in a garage. Thanks.

The complete point of this post. Trying to make sense what is going on here.

Yep. It would be nice if Ford would try and trace this problem down. The things Ford has that we do not... is the extra data of where & when these tops were built (that failed), what lines they were produced on, and what Broncos they were put on.

For example... if you knew when a top was built, then you'd be able to analyze what glue/epoxy/etc went into a top, and what sub-manufacturer provide that "stuff", etc.

It DOES NOT seem like Ford has done the proper research on finding the cause.

Summary: To bad -- so sad.

2023 2-door. Cracks appeared at ~38k miles - just out of warranty. Nice work, Ford! Perfectly engineered and constructed to be “some else’s problem.”

Took delivery in Feb 2024, not garage kept and noticed cracks around the passenger side around the window in the main top 1k before bumper to bumper expired. Dealership agreed to replace the back top (but not the 2 front / middle pieces) but said they've been waiting for over a year on another top they're replacing so will see if/when it ever comes. This was at the beginning of the month.
