Ford CEO Jim Farley Confirms That a Bronco Hybrid Is Coming

The news comes as part of a larger plan from Ford to hybridize every model in its lineup. "We really want to bet on all of it," said Farley. "We're going to have an all-hybrid lineup. So, Bronco, everything you can buy at Ford will have a hybrid. We'll also have [extended-range EVs] for towing."

Seems like someone is tone deaf to the Bronco market, the electric for Ford has failed miserably in profits already.
Toyotas hybrid 4Runner, Land Cruiser has not been well liked based on sales from what I have seen.
Maybe the Jim Farley critics have been correct all along about this guy being full of bad decisions. Seems like a dumb move. The Bronco sport, now that screams hybrid.

A lot of old fuddy duddies wanting dinosaur tech for less horsepower than what a hybrid makes. I'm looking forward to it. Instant torque, better fuel economy, and the reliability of tech that's been in production for almost 30 years. What's not to like?

There is more to vehicle choice than HP.

I want DEPENDABLE range that can be replenished in a matter of minutes.

Ford already has the Powerboost F150 that gets about 25mpg. My guess is they scale it and put it in the Bronco.

Which is what hybrids are. Fill tank and go.
Tiny tanks. What part of some of us DRIVE and dont want a range-insufficient vehicle with no manual transmission do you not comprehend?

The market spoke and doesn't embrace the push to electric in an era of grid insufficiency and where prices of electricity spike faster than pump prices...

For plug in hybrids maybe. But you seem to not understand what a regular hybrid is. You fill it, and the engine charges the battery. No plug required.

And hybrids outsell everything else in this country. So yeah, the market has spoken.

Your mistaken if you think high mpg comes out of this 30 plus year old hybrid tech. Cruise over to the 4runner6g site and see the average mpg is around 19-20 and that’s on the small 32” tires.
My Everglades gets 19 on pavement all day long. On the 37’s I’m getting 17+.
The problem is we’re being forced into this by weenies in the gov. The auto companies are not bringing out these hybrids because they have some great new breakthrough. They are doing it to meet cafe standards and we all pay for it.

I’m assuming you’re only referring to electrified vehicles with this statement?
Because they certainly don’t outsell ICE only vehicles.

You need to understand ESG and the cost of taking public money from investment groups that have agendas that fail in governmental legislation attempts.

Toyota has stated that its truck hybrids are designed for power, not efficiency. Look at Ford's own hybrid F-150. Markedly improved fuel economy over the gas version.

And again, the market data doesn't bear that out. People don't like paying a lot every month for the privilege to get around. Even with the deregulation going on, hybrids are rising. For many, it's now the default choice.

If we were talking EVs, I'd see your point, but we're talking a proven technology with few downsides that most people want.
