I know folks have used the ARB dual in the DV8 storage box without issue - but when I was looking at options and asked DV8 about running the compressor with that lid closed - this is the response I got. I generally don't plan to empty the back of the rig to need to air up, so being able to run with area closed/covered was a consideration for me.

QUESTION -
For the Ford Bronco Compressor Mount & Storage Box - can the compressor be ran with the storage compartment closed/covered? Is there any concern for heat build up without having that area open when in use?

DV8 RESPONSE -
Hello Jeanette, thanks for reaching out.
I reached out to my tech and they do recommend to have it open when in use to avoid it heating up quicker then normal.
I've been following along with others on this as well. I added the dv8 storage box for the arb twin but the increased storage made it a no brainer regardless. I had concerns about heat as well running it with the lid closed. My initial plan was to remote locate the power on/off switch and chuck on the inner passenger panel to keep them out of the elements and to also avoid having to clear the storage area to open the lid, attach air line, etc. So far I've not done anything but I want to sooner than later.

My ARB brushless twin air compressor and DV8 compressor Mount have arrived. Now I just need to decide which wiring option to use to extend the wiring, what length hose to get to mount the air connector under the bumper near the hitch. I’ve had a busy weekend so far so I haven’t opened either the compressor or the DV8 box Yet.
This might help:

Sorry, I finished off the install last year and forgot to come back and update.

The brushless ARB twin works awesome and is fast.

Easy to do, out of the way and plenty cool enough that I stuff my down sleeping bag behind it (When the tops on!) Switch and chuck are in easy reach of tailgate and the hose stashes in the small niche. I decided to leave the power connector exposed, but it does look a little messy.

grounded in the rear, ran two 8 gauge wires in a sheath tucked neatly interior panels through the firewall grommet for power. Not for everyone, but works for me

Best part is the molle panels create a ton of secure storage space behind them when the top is on.

What is that tank you installed? Do you find it worth it?
I installed a RIdeTech aluminum 2 gallon tank - but I had to fabricate my own brackets for it - I modified some Summit Racing Oil tank brackets...because I have an air horn - yes it is worth it for me to have the tank. If you are not doing an air horn - then you are probably just fine without...it's A LOT of extra work and hoses, regulator, water separating filter etc.

So you ran electrical and ground through the cab and the airline under the body? Where did you route the airline after leaving the DV8 box, since you put the chuck along the hitch in the other direction?

Did you need to make any mods to mount the brushless to the DV8 box mounting points? Did you use the quick release plate that comes with the brushless compressor.

I currently have the DV8 box and am considering going with the brushless versus the classic dual copressor.

Power thru the cab and airlines under the body thru the DV8 box. I used ARB braided hoses (they aren't great) and used the included rubber grommets in the ARB box to protect them from chafing. I used a 9mm casing and a small hammer to cut a hole in the grommets. See the pic link to my install gallery in a prior post.

thank you - I did start to look through that photo gallery and noticed it was the classic compressor, so I didn't catch it was the same install.... Did you end up swapping from the classic to the brushless? If so, what was your comparison of the two - especially with operating temp.

I did not switch to the brushless, haven't had any issues with this setup and because of my air horns/storage tank, and the crappy ARB hoses - the tank need to top off after any overnight parking, so it runs pretty much every day. The one other thing I did was use silicone isolating washers (like 1/2-3/4" thick) to try and control some of the compressor noise vs mounting metal to metal inside the DV8 box.

Ah ha... I just realized you replied to my post that was a question to @AWDSOME, who did use the brushless and also had pics of the install in a red bronco.... Sorry for the confusion of not recognizing the mix up.
