Seriously, though, I would not purchase a fire extinguisher with the expectation of being able to put out a fire under the hood. I'm not sticking my hand under the hood to release the latch when a raging inferno is happening.
I bought one of these, the 10 lb version after reading about BroncoSierra's experience. I knew I didn't want a dry chemical extinguisher. Expensive but worth it in my opinion. They told me to spray into the grill until white smoke comes out then pop the hood. They come with a life time warranty.I had an engine fire in a Land Rover and it burned to the ground. I had an extinguisher. I was able to pop the hood. Exhausted the extinguisher in about 90 seconds. It did nothing.
