Just to clarify. I was just saying thats how the resistance in the wheel felt, like the lane departure warning was blocking me. Which sounded like the issue for the guy I quoted. My issue was binding in the steering column which a can of spray lube fixed. It was stiff enough I had to turn the wheel straight after an on ramp where I would normally just loosen my grip and let wheel center itself. Felt like a major issue and I was quite happy It was an easy fix. I don't think the lane departure system is the issue.

Several people have suggested it. Unless its malfunctioning, I don't think thats the problem.
I thought maybe it was their first vehicle with the feature. It can be a bit disconcerting until one gets used to it.

God I hope it might be that but I've never heard of your problem being a thing. I have heard of many steering racks going bad.

Only major one that could have impacted it, upgraded tires from stock 255/75R17 to 285/70R17 2 years ago. super frustrating

Mine is at the dealer. I explained my situation in detail to my service writer. He seemed to understand and seemed to be reasonable. I'm waiting for the call today...

Well... ABS module is bad causing steering to not work. Color me surprised. We'll see if they can fix it.

I had what sounds like a similar issue throughout the winter. About two months ago Ford replaced the steering shaft and the problem was fixed. Of course my standard 3 year warranty was expired a few months before so I had to foot the $850 bill. Mine was a 22 Base with no mods or lifts.

The week it was replaced I went to Toyota and ordered a new vehicle, I no longer have the Bronco.

3 weeks mines been at the dealer. Steering shaft was mentioned. Parts on backorder. Maybe another week. Honestly I don't think they know whats wrong until they get all parts in hand. Eventually I'll have a brand new car at this rate.

Mine was only in 2 days, diagnosed one day and parts ordered then delivered and installed by the end of the next day. Either they were good mechanics or they’ve seen the issue a few times. I’ve always had good dealing with my Dealer i just wasn’t confident with the quality or reliability of the Bronco anymore.
