I finally installed mine last week. I also swapped out the stock muffler with a smaller Steeda muffler so I had lots of room between the muffler and the bottom of the storage compartment. I am not worried about heat transfer. I was going to add sound deadening to the Bronco cargo area, but decided to wait since it looks like once it is installed, there is no getting rid of it (way too sticky). I am happy with it. It is definitely bigger than the stock plastic compartment.

Anyway, here are some suggestions I wish DV8 would consider for future products:

a) add a gasket between the storage bin and the support frame and also add a gasket between the support frame and the Bronco metal body to keep out water. I may end up using silicon caulking to achieve the same result but but it will not look pretty.

b) add an optional locking metal lid that attaches to the support frame

c) add an optional light inside so you can see contents without needing a flashlight or other light source

d) add sound/temp insulation pads for storage bin ends, currently they are left without any covering

Please tell me more about the muffler. I'm concerned about that space issue myself. Do you think if you were to do it again that you could make a gasket even though, they should provide it in my opinion. Thanks

I bought it because I hate the fake ESE (Engine Sound Enhancement) which I plan on disabling but I need to get to download Forscan and see if it will work on my old laptop. Anyway, it's tiny compared to the stock muffler which is huge. Here are some photos showing the Steeda vs the OEM muffler (I know they suck):

That's great! Exactly the information I was looking for. A OBDLink was delivered to my house today so I plan on looking into getting rid of the fake engine sounds when. I get back from travelling. How does the Steeda sound? To be honest, I don't care if I could even hear the engine, so quiter the better for me. Thanks again.

My Borla muffler is almost the same size as the stock one and it is essentially touching the bottom of the IAG box. As I mentioned in an earlier post I wrapped the bottom of the IAG box in gold flake heat tape, including where it is close/touches. Have had that setup since February and I've inspected a bunch of times - does not appear to be any issues.

Steeda is louder, with a lower frequency "growl" at idle and is also louder during acceleration, but pretty quiet at steady-state speeds. One quick way to reduce the ESE is to drive in ECO mode. It doesn't eliminate it, but it does tone it down. I can hear a difference. Also since I have a manual, the ECO vs Normal vs Sport is not really reflected in actual performance (vs having shift points change in an Auto).

Something else I didn't know I needed. Is this Amazon link the latest version of this ? Has anything changed from what you folks have been installing ? I will probably order one tonight. Looks like a good space to keep some of the recovery gear I normally keep in a chest type box and I could use the freed up space .

Amazon.com: DV8 Storage Compartment for 2021-2026 Ford Bronco | Enhances Storage Space | Extra Thick Heat Shield | 54% More Volume than the OEM Box | Fully Bolt-On Installation | Steel | Black Powder Coat : Automotive

I also have the Steeda axle back exhaust on my 2dr w/2.7 and like everything about it except the drone in the 2k rpm ranges, which is where most of my hwy driving seems to end up. It is also very boomy when taking off in the first few gears which is sorta obnoxious in the campsites around early morning or late evening if I have to leave. There is a 15" straight length of pipe run under the second row seat before the axle that I have thought about trying to add a resonator or small straight through muffler to try and tone it down a bit. Not sure if that would work though.

Thanks for dredging up this old thread today and making me spend more $$$ :)

Hahaha exactly how it happened to me! Yes that appears to be the same one. I am not aware of any changes DV8 has made but you may want to check with them. I bought directly from them.

Not entirely sure, but I think the 4-dr with the longer exhaust pipe may change the sound just a bit from having a 2-dr. Also I added an end-piece which is about 8" long. It's hard for me to totally judge the sound until I kill my ESE, but driving on ECO does seem to reduce total sound when driving vs Normal/Sport which was loud even with my stock muffler.

I just now ordered directly from them also. The code "ForumMember" was good for a $25 discount as well :)
