Found this in the oil filter basin after pulling the oil filter today. Did a thorough check of the filter itself and the filter cap and no pieces were broken or missing. it is possible that it broke off a previous filter and was just in the basin (no where for it to go once the filter is inserted). Serves as a reminder to check the basin as well at every oil change.
The ends of the plastic are smooth and the top side is beveled. You can see on the bottom side where broke off.
Long shot, but anyone have an idea of what it might be and from what part of the engine it originated?
