You don't really need a special tool, the kit Ford provides does the trick just fine. Just use the rachet and tighten a bit at a time until the popping goes away.

Torque wrenches are extremely useful. Make the small investment.

There are wide ranging opinions on when or if torque wrenches are required. It's a bit like the collective range of opinions on whether an ICE engine needs a break in.

That said, in industries the most focused on quality, safety and reliability, such as aerospace, all structural and safety critical fasteners are carefully torqued with accurate and certified equipment. This is so true in all automotive assembly lines.

In a vehicle, one should consider how safety critical any given fastener is, e.g.; con rod and head bolts - no question, suspension and drivetrain fasteners - definitely, accessory lighting - up to you, interior/non structural - generally wing it (if you have any decent feel at all).

For mounting a door where the worst case is it falls off and kills someone in another car, I would say highly advised.

Obviously, you do you.

IMHO, having a good (set) of torque wrenches is critical to properly maintaining and modifying bikes, cars, trucks, etc.

Happy 4th to you as well 🇺🇲.
