I can shed some light on this from the other side of the counter.
I worked for Autonation wholesale for a couple of years. I sold Ford, Toyota, GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Subaru and a bit of Fiat.
All of their parts catalogs rely on VIN to find the correct parts. As stated elsewhere, there are often mid-year changes that affect fitment. If I sell the wrong part, it is a pain in the ass for everyone involved, customer included. Returns suck, they hit our bottom line. The customer is pissed, losing time and money. If it is a special order part, we either need to charge a restocking fee to cover our costs on it, or eat it and sit on the part for possibly years. Most manufacturers have a limit on returns allowed. The rest you get to put in your inventory, hoping it sells someday.
There can be liability issues as well. Turn on the TV to watch the weather and all I see are slip and fall lawyers promising millions to anyone involved in a crash.
As far as Ford collecting your info, that's nonsense. The parts catalog is not billing software in most dealerships, so looking up a part by VIN, there is no way for Ford to track who bought what part for what car. We look up parts for hundereds of cars every day, not all parts looked up by VIN are sold.
If Ford were requesting the invoices with the name and VIN and whatnot, the OP may have a concern but even then, what is Ford going to do? Send a squad over to remove the parts? Sue you for some violation?
If they did not wat you to work on your own vehicle, they would not sell you the parts.

Oh my, how long have you been in the NCR??? We spent only 3 years and ya, it gets unnerving at best. Lol That was a decade ago and I'm sure its no better.
Yes.....the alignment seems very reliable unlike my devices that go into bootloops at a "scheduled" updates. I'm pretty hacked at my Geek Squad right now. They must have gotten those guys from O'Reilly's as well. Brakes are so much simpler!
