Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal... there, it's stuck in your head too.

Cal Worthington had dealerships all over California and Arizona as well.
I grew up in Southern California. The man was ingrained in the culture. I had no idea dealerships included Alaska. Today I learned. :)

Like I said, don't care about whether they have a fix, approved or otherwise, but it's crazy to say "hey, your car may burst into flames, but we won't tell you what the problem is because we don't have a fix yet". There's no law saying they can't describe, in detail, what the problem is before there's a fix.
Okay what if in doing that it takes them another week to put out the initial notification? Should they take that week? Or should they put something out as soon as they can?

The problems themselves and definitely the solutions are not always completely obvious, even for the seemingly simple issues. Because of a history of people and companies rushing to incorrect conclusions, there are processes to follow for these things and AT LEAST TRY to make sure things get done CORRECTLY and hopefully in a reasonable timeframe.

I've worked many Root Cause Corrective Actions and the initial "problem statement" is generally incomplete and fairly often completely wrong. The identified "problem" maybe only a symptom of the real issue. So, be thankful they are working to get you the correct, effective fix the first time through....and not having you run in circles chasing your tail with DIY repairs and two or three more follow on recalls to resolve the condition.

There's no reason to delay an initial notification. I'm just saying additional information should be released as soon as it's verified -- not waiting until a "fix" is found. When a company can put a date out there saying when they'll have fix information, they already know what the problem is.

I have been given many, many completion dates by leadership/management that had absolutely zero substantiation behind them and smelled like rectum....because that was where the date originated.

That’s not going to happen, nor does it ever happen. Once a repair is ready, the dealers will be notified first so they can repair it.

If the concern was bad enough or common enough to worry about, they would issue do not drive notices. They haven’t in this case.

As I said in another reply: information should be released as soon as verified. It should not wait until a fix is also available. And, if you can schedule when a fix will be released, you already know what the problem is, or you have very dysfunctional management

So, dysfunctional management, which tracks with the extremely poor quality (worse than average even for Ford) of Ford products in the last 10 years.

Like, I want updates on this issue and am watching this thread, but holy hell you babies want me to mute it until Thursday.

Big companies need time to do things. Notifying folks there's a problem as early as practicable should be the standard even if more research into the best solution needs to be done.

You're not getting a free car because some wires are rubbing and might need a little tape.

Nobody cares if your <other brand> did it differently. Chrysler products have and will always be junk.

There should be a Thumbs Down option, "mad" isn't appropriate but there should be a way to express displeasure.

Thanks.

You are not taking into account the time delay required by the legal department to massage the language of the final recall notice.
The high priced lawyers in legal said “We’ll have the language of the final recall notice ready by next Thursday.“
So it is written, so it shall be.

Got some pics of my harness near the fluid reservoir. No obvious wearing through wires, though I didn’t get great angles with my bore scope. (edit: 2.3, ‘22MY, 37k lots of gravel roads)

I've worked IT for several fortune 100 companies and some government organizations. I'm quite well aware of how the bureaucracy grinds away.

If one of my teams had waited to release information regarding a vulnerability or critical defect until we had a patch, we would have been sacked. Excepting things like zero day exploits. "Hey Mr. hospital, I wanted to tell you there's a defect in our billing software you use that may result in HIPAA violations. I won't tell you what it is until we have a patch though. Good luck!"

Look at my earlier post. Found that and fixed that issue. May or may not be related to the recall. But is was rubbing up against the fender metal lip.
