Doors (& top) are off. When I turn engine off and get out the tailgate is always locked. I have to unlock with the fob(that I leave in the tray ahead of the shifter in my garage). With the doors off I can't hit the unlock button. I have to use the fob and it's still inside the rig.
Is there a way to unlock or keep the tailgate unlocked?
Thanks
Edit...more info
I pull into garage, turn engine off, key stays in tray below a/c controls. I get out, walk to tailgate and it's locked. With doors on this doesn't happen. The unlock button is on the now removed door.

Do you not have a key fob to unlock it? Thats how mine works.

I see the inconvenience there, but that's actually a cool feature (if I'm understanding correctly). If someone has a lock trunk installed, someone can't just come up to the bronco and hit an unlock button to get access. The trunk stays locked with the ignition off. Someone can only unlock it with the fob. This essentially gives the Bronco owner a relatively protected locked space if there is a trunk installed whether doors on or off. Actually sounds like someone at Ford had on their thinking cap.

He puts it in the tray under the dashboard.
I missed the part about his fob. Im kinda confused. Ive never had an issue. But I dont think Ive ever tried to open the tailgate under these particular circumstances.

Something like this happened to me one time, when it was raining and my hands were full. I was like, why won't the tailgate open! I think either the key goes to sleep after so long, or it's not picked up by the right antenna? In my pocket hasn't been a problem.

Did you ever find a solution to this? It is frustrating to have to go back and get my Fob to get into the back.

I believe you can use forscan to disable the automatic locking feature. Someone with more experience in forscan might be able to provide some input. For some reason you can disable automatic unlocking with the drivers door opening in the centre console settings, but not the automatic locking above 5ish MPH
