Last time we talked about road trips and found that everyone pays great attention to car maintenance, and pre-trip checks are an essential part of the process (checking tire pressure, rims, car battery, changing oil, etc.). But what regular vehicle conditions do you guys care about most, for safety reasons or personal hygiene needs?

I always make sure all my windows are clean. I like to hand wash mine about every 2-3 weeks (more if I take it off roading), this is when I like to really look over everything top to bottom.

Being in the repair/maintenance world most of my life, I don‘t care to do much anymore…taking it in this week to get all fluids changed and tires rotated…also got a nail in a tire…gonna have the tire shop pull it out…

Just came back from an off-road trip to a new park. Checked all fluids before leaving, also made sure all the wipers were in great condition as I knew bug juice would be everywhere.

I just topped off my tires at Costco this weekend. Whether or not you remember PV=nRT from high school, remember that tire pressures drop as ambient air temperatures drop, so even if you aren't leaking air, your tire pressure will be lower now than in the summertime, so it's helpful to check and refill now.

I also gave the Bronco a thorough washing inside and out (yay for washout floors!) and finally got the last of Southern Utah red dirt out. I prefer going to self-wash stations during the winter because it's too cold to wash at home, and I'm a little paranoid about the brushes at the automatic car washes (especially on PPF). Even when it's very clean, one look at my Bronco's tires and anyone can tell it's not a pavement princess.

Everything on the list except cleaning the floor mats, but I did that last month. Next up will be an oil change and tire rotation. I still do these things myself but I confess, I have to ask for help when lifting wheels/tires for the rotation. Actually, I have a few things on my to-do list, but temps are in the single digits and I don't have a garage in which to work.

Hey 3W,
One item that you are missing from your list is cleaning the Bronco exterior. With all the salt that gets dumped on our road during the winter months, a regular cleaning of the vehicle is key. It is during the cleaning process that you get a chance to look closely at your truck and make any fixes that you come across through your regular cleanings.
I look after my vehicles as I want them to last. A good set of mats, like yours, definitely helps to keep the interior of your vehicle easier to clean and maintain.
As to regular maintenance, I recently changed the front diff, rear diff, transfer case and manual transmission fluids.
