Interesting, I know many people with various BMWs and fleets of Ford trucks no one has issues that I've heard of.

Our clients trust Ford trucks 500+ miles from any civilization in camps for months on end, year round, with no worries or issues.

Could be the modern refineries and low sulphur fuels using highest grade octane additives banned in many countries.

Must be a regional fuel formulation issue to speculate.

In general N. American fuels are very poor quality VS euro fuel I'm surprised BMW still hasn't learned since the 1990s fiasco of burned out V8s from our high sulphur content.

I've had 6 V8 BMWs...no issues always running them hard on 93.
Sounds like you've had a pretty lucky run of it so far. Same for your clients. That's great.

I am very good friends with 3 mechanics who own their own shops. 1 is a BMW specialty shop. They've all talked about the issues with ignition coils in all of the ford trucks (the 4.6, 5.4 and the 6.8) and with many of the BMW engines.

The BMW motors are awful with them. The N43, N53 and N54 motors all are known for it.
My X5M has the S63 motor and I burn a couple each year.
This is accurate. I run a Euro shop and have been wrenching for 20+ years. I kept spare coils in the trunk of my FBO 335i to swap on the side of the road

After limping home several times I learned to keep 1 or 2 in my trunk as well. Lol
