2021 Bronco Fuse Types

I'm sure this is common knowledge to everyone else but it took me longer than I care to admit to figure out what the hell kind of fuses our Bronco uses.

Spoiler alert: The answer is Micro 2, Micro 3, and Slotted M Case types

And if like me you want to be prepared when hitting the trails the following two kits will get you everything you need to have replacements for any fuse.

You will have a bunch of non-slotted M Case fuses that you don't need. Save them for your Mopar buddies.

If anyone finds a more cost-effective way to have replacements for everything please post it.

P.S. Fuck OEMs for finding ways to cause customers to be charged ridiculous amounts of money to connect two pieces of wire with a specific thickness piece of wire.

The slotted Mcase fuses were a PITA to find. Ford dealers should be the best way to get them. Local Ford dealer had all sizes in stock but wanted over $10 each. I’ll try to find the random ass website I ended up ordering from.

I actually went out this morning to check as I have extra random fuses and had them stored in it. But glad I did because the Bronco takes a different type than what I had.

If you get a Micro2 kit and a Micro3 kit it's $7 cheaper than the combined kit.

Then the Slotted ones listed earlier is the best deal.

I currently have (2) Micro2 fuse taps connected to #29 & #35 for my dash cam. I want to hardwire a fiber optic LED dash kit that would require a 5A or maybe 10A fuse. I don’t think I have an opening to do this on the left side of my fuse box, so tried using a Micro3 fuse tap on the right side…but the adapter didn’t fit (looked like the base of the fuse tap was too big & blocked the 3 prongs from being plugged in).

Is there a way to do this or do I have to choose between the 2 accessories?

Does anyone know how to quickly test M Case Slotted fuses while they are still in the fuse box. NAPA and chain auto parts stores don't carry these puppies. Do you think there'd be any interest in putting together a Bronco-specfic assortment of fuses for sale to 6G members? Like one of each type and size. I just paid over $10 for a 30 amp M Case Slotted fuse at my stealership. Blow one of these "unicorns" out in the boonies and you better be wearing comfortable shoes.

So, I recently bought a 2021 Badlands model and it didn’t take long for me to wonder what spare fuses I would need (critical circuits in case of an emergency in the deep desert rather than for general replacement). I accepted that I may need to ‘limp’ home.

1st step, identified which fuse types are used in each circuit (engine bay and interior).

2nd step, identified which circuits are ‘critical’ for on road and offroad use.

3rd step, identified non-critical circuits which could be sacrificed in case of emergency.

I believe you only need to buy the following two fuses for emergencies (2021 Badlands):
- 1x 25A Micro2 (critical circuit 6, PCM Power, which is required to start and power the ECU)
- 1x 30A Micro2 (critical circuit 7, PCM)

All other critical circuits have a corresponding fuse somewhere in a non-critical circuit which could be pulled and used (eg ‘borrowing’ the fuse from one of the many power outlets, heated seats, rear window defrost, passenger door power, USB)

Frustratingly,
- Ford gives us a spare 15A Micro3 (interior circuit 4/5) but nothing uses that fuse … useless. They should have made this as 10A Micro3 as a spare for circuit 6/7 (anti theft horn alarm). So you may want to buy a spare but not critical.
- Ford only used a 7.5A Micro2 for interior circuit 3 (mirrors and wireless charging). So you may also want to buy a spare but not critical.

I was attempting to put together a Bronco specific fuse kit via amazon and some of the fuses have options for tall/short Maxi/Mini dependent upon height. Looked up fuse identification and came across this.

Does anyone have a guide to Bronco fuses which includes the necessary into handy, such as Mcase Tall or Short and Jcase maxi or mini?

If not looks like I be making one and posting it here.

The manual lists a wide variety but the two main fuse boxes (engine and interior) only have M Case Slotted, Micro 2 and a few Micro 3

I can summarise the number of each type and rating (in use). Will have to send later

As I posted earlier, if you only need it for emergency then only buy the 25A Micro2 and 30A Micro2 but if you want a full backup including non critical then
M Case: 15A, 20A, 30A, 40A, 60A
Micro 2: 5A, 7.5A, 10A, 15A, 20A, 25A
Micro 3: 5A, 7.5A, 10A (there is a spare 15A but nothing uses it)

My response was for 2021 Badlands (I made an edit to make that clearer) but I believe there is only one size for “M Case Slotted” (either M Case slotted or M Case non-slotted; the J Case does have two lengths).

The M Case slotted in the 2021 Badlands is ~16mm length if that helps. (My manual also lists 8 fuse types but it seems only 3 are used + a Maxi that isn’t wired to anything)
