2021+ Bronco Tuning NOW AVAILABLE!

Ford Bronco 2021+ Bronco Whipple Tuning NOW AVAILABLE! - LETHAL PERFORMANCE broncotune

WAIT, DID WE PUT A WHIPPLE ON A BRONCO?

Nope! But we did install their newest EcoBoost offering. For years, Whipple has offered upgraded intercoolers, intakes & calibrations for the EcoBoost platform (they aren't all just superchargers, they just like BOOST in general!) so of course they had to get their foot into the Broncos as well.

The 2021+ Ford F150s and Broncos present an issue with tuning right now, as the PCM is pretty much locked up tight. However, with Whipple's awesome relationship with the guys over at Ford & their calibration team, Dustin and the Whipple team are able to bring you upgraded calibrations for these new, secure vehicles making them the FIRST and ONLY (right now) company being able to tune the 2021+ Bronco and F150 (oh and did we mention they are 50 STATE LEGAL?!).

When Dustin from Whipple Superchargers called us and told us he had a calibration ready to go for our 2021 First Edition Bronco 2.7L, we jumped on it! But before loading the calibration, we wanted to make sure to get some baseline numbers to see what improvements the tune gave us.

Check out the video & read below for more info!

VIDEO:

While the truck was stock, we decided to not only toss it on the dyno to get some stock horsepower numbers, but we also did some testing (in Mexico) with a Dragy.

On the dyno, the Bronco put down 253rwhp / 318rwtq. It's not breaking any horsepower records but that's not really what these trucks were built for, anyways.

With the quick Dragy test, we saw a 2.53 60' and a 0-60mph time of 7.51 seconds. Again, not breaking any records but this truck was meant to crawl rocks, not fly.

Now it was time to load up the Whipple Bronco calibration and see what she could do! First test: the dyno.

With the Whipple calibration, our Bronco made 312rwhp / 400rwtq. That is over 50rwhp and over 80rwtq increase from just a TUNE. We're impressed.
Next up, we wanted to see what the Dragy was going to tell us about the new tune.

The results from the Dragy were a 2.14 60' and a 6.99 second 0-60mph time. We picked up half a second in the 0-60mph and almost the same in our 60'. We'll take it.

Overall, with just the calibration from Whipple Superchargers on our 2.7L Bronco, the results are awesome. Whipple is finishing up their new intercoolers for these trucks and we'll definitely be putting one on ASAP to complete our Whipple Stage 1 setup.

Is this adjusting the actual calibration of the vehicle? like adjusting ign timing, cam timing and fueling targets along with the boost bump? or is this just a boost bump that increases the boost pressure and lets the PCM control for it with the OEM calibration?

Is this just an engine calibration? I don't see anything about the TCM being tuned as well. Plenty of gains to be had there as well.

For those who know, what kinds of gains have been seen in other 2.7 Ecoboost vehicles like F-150’s, Rangers, etc? With the Bronco’s engine, weight and transmission, what is the ballpark of possibility with a full tune/calibration like those vehicles have available? What should I be waiting for before I do this, besides waiting for my warranty to expire? :)

Will there be a 2.3L tune coming out?
2.3L calibrations are in the works but not available yet. We will definitely make everyone aware once they become available.

If you have any other questions in the meantime please let us know.
Thanks!

This is a full flash of the PCM and TCM. It's completely different than the other piggyback options already offered.

Both engine calibration for fueling, timing, boost, rev limit, speed limit, torque limits and shift strategies are all part of the Whipple calibration including disabling of the auto start/stop feature.

You also have the ability to properly adjust for axle/tire size changes with the Tomahawk device

Please let me know if you have any other question and I'll be glad to answer them for you.

Thanks!

Was the new intake sent by Whipple in your first video on another thread installed as well? Any downpipe mods or inter coolers? Would you recommend any/all of these with the tune for the health of the vehicle turbos, or is the engine capable of handling this tune stand alone?

Testing was done with the stock filter/intake setup and an MRT axle back. No other mods thst would affect power besides those and the Whipple calibration.

We’ll be testing the filter and intercooler once the intercooler shows up. That will basically make up the Whipple stage 1 kit (tune, filter, intercooler)

I’m sure some high flow down pipes would also increase performance however Whipple will not make any changes to the cal for off-road setups as their cal as it is will be 50 state legal.

I think for most the tune by itself will be more than enough. However if you’re like me and want more out of it the stage 1 kit will be the cats meow.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Is your baseline run with 87 octane? The baseline you're presenting is much lower then pretty much every other dyno chart we've seen for the 2.7.

numbers vary from dyno to dyno. What matters is the gain seen on the same dyno, not which dyno gave you the highest baseline.

But something that certainly does matter is if the baseline is done using 87 octane and then the second dyno run is done using 93 octane with the tune. Not really an apples to apples comparison then. Ford performance is doing just that with their packs - showing pretty nice gains but only if you don't also factor in the octane difference before and after the tune.
