Why doesn’t Ford put the F150 Raptor 3.5 Ecoboost into the Bronco Raptor?

Because the 3.0 nano is smaller and lighter. Makes comparable horsepower. Same mounting points as the 2.7.

I wouldn't really call 418 similar to 450... Otherwise I agree. Also towing capacity is much lower, so 3.5 would have been overkill.

(EDIT - "overkill" in terms of meeting Ford's required internal specifications/goals)

3.5 is the easiest swap out there in my opinion.

would NOT have to change much at all, and most f150 stuff could be utilized where needed

I mean... 7% difference is pretty similar compared to 34% difference between 3.0 and 2.3L.

Towing capacity is not based purely on the engine, lol. You could put a Rolls-Royce jet engine in the Braptor and the tow rating would still suck. ;) 😂

It's all relative... One is certainly going to feel 450 vs. 418.

Engine torque is a pretty significant factor limiting towing and towing capacity is a major selling point. The 3.5 has 16% more torque than the 3.0.

2.7 Ecoboost can tow over 10,000 lbs in an F150, so... maybe that ~125% over the Braptor isn't the engine.

It is all marketing / positioning. The Braptor was deigned to sit below the F150 Raptor price-wise, and as such, they designed it to approach (stretching here), but not exceed the F150 performance. 15-20k on each Braptor sticker was tacked on simply because people were paying it to stealerships anyways. It is funny that dealerships are advertising Ranger Raptors at MSRP around here ~60k, and they are all the same hardware as the Braptors...

Honestly, giving the Bronco and the Raptor 10R80 transmissions would be far more useful than the 3.5.
Why? There are more issues with the 10R80 compared to the 10R60.
