Looking for some suggestions on next step to chase down a 4 wheel drive problem:
4 wheel drive becomes unavailable when either front or rear wheels start rotating at different speeds.
While climbing an obstacle, first front and rear lockers went out, then error “4 wheel drive temporarily unavailable”. Was in 4 low manual first gear (automatic). Later error message “4 wheel drive unavailable”.
Did the battery reboot and disconnected the refrigerator and all other accessories, but done for the day. Was at the UBB event in Utah.
Dealer in St George Utah took a look at it:
Tested the 4 X 4 system. Performed a scan test and had lost communication DTCs. Cleared the DTCs and performed an AWD and IPC module self test and they both passed. No visual damage. They did find TSB-TSB-23-2182 which is bad battery state of charge. They did a battery check and determined it was good. This seems to be an issue with some 21-22 Broncos.
Works fine on a dirt road, but in loose sand or a climb, it goes sideways.
Recent modifications include adding a raptor steering rack and ProCal. There were issues getting it installed. An electronic sway bar disconnect was added a couple years ago. Two inch lift on stock 35s. 2022 Wildtrak.
Ironically, two other Broncos had the same issue that day but were corrected by the battery reboot. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
