I did the same thing on my 4-door and so far.... seems good. Super easy to remove if it ever caused problems but so far so good.

Speaking for myself, I’ve never had the problem he describes, but I’ll keep this on the back of my mind in case it’s needed.

I just applied a touch of silicone grease to the pin on my MIC and its been squeak free for 4 months now.

I did the heat shrink as well, nice and snug fit with zero noise. Definitely beats reapplying a grease or lube.

I’m 2000 miles in after applying your fix and confirm it’s still working as well! Think it’s a better solution than lubricant or electrical tape. Since fixing that though I have developed a creaking/rattling in the rear trunk area that I need to figure out.

Been through heavy rain, heavy snow, multiple car washes and no leaks so far with 6000 miles.

Thanks for the original video/fix. I used heat shrink for my MIC noises and this fix definitely works. It's been over 2k miles ago and all is still good.
