Emailed the author. Sent him a link to this thread and told him I’d be happy to be interviewed.
First paragraph.

“A spokesperson told us these SUVs were waiting for quality checks before shipping them to showrooms.”

Seriously?

Seriously?
I had a thought to have him on 3 way call and have him listen to what the 800 number operators tell us. That will be gold. Will let him know how let down we’ve been by Ford on communications. Or how Mike Leveine gives stock “soon” “working hard to get them delivered” answers but will go on and on and back and forth with Tesla owners arguing with him. It’s a ‘Let them eat cake’ attitude while he has joy rides in new cars Twitter fighting with Tesla owners. I hope I get interviewed. I’ll let Ford know how effective communication works.

I own a BMW X3. Have never owned a Ford.
That's exactly where I'm headed if this drags out much longer...22 x3 lci starting to hit lots now, order timing seems realistic...it's a sad day

Pure speculation on my part. I do not want this to be true but I feel that Ford will come out and say that they are cutting ties with Webasto and absorbing the Webasto plant (Contractual Negotiation) The new tooling will arrive in September and begin making new tops and our Broncos will not leave until those new tops are on them. And we get a $1000 to $1500 rebate fir our 21’s being released so close to 22’s.

Seems a not bad outcome. Better would be allow option to buy at protected price and first built in order of reservation MY22

Probably not terribly far off. I guessed wildly at your first statement a few weeks ago and some members seemed to back it up. This is not the first post I’ve read about a September date for new tops.

It seems like the most logical endgame, especially if Webasto covers half of the rebate it would keep Ford good on its profit margins.
