I’m a cheap, impatient person, therefore I decided to make my own “wash out” floor. Why the hell does Ford make an off-road vehicle with carpet floors as standard equipment!?! I’m tired of waiting on Armorlite and I’m not shelling out 6-700 to piece it together from Ford. So… for little over $100 I’ll just use Herculiner.

Easy enough to do in a weekend.

1. Remove the interior panels and carpet.
2. Remove all the plugs and wash the floor.
3. Remove sound deadening with dry ice, if desired.
4. Sand with 120grit.
5. Wash again.
6. Dry
7. Zip tie/ secure the wiring harness out of the way, tape what you don’t want covered.
8. Clean again with Xylene.
9. Apply 1st coat
10. Dry 1-4hours
11. Apply 2nd coat
12. Dry/ cure 24 hr
13. Reassemble the interior

Done with the floors, now to work on the rear platform.

That's extensive! What kind of smell does this add to the interior? Would it linger for a while with the doors closed?

I did that with my 91 FSB a few years back. 2 complaints, sound and temperature. Made it sound like riding in a tin can and it was a lot hotter in the summer and colder in the winter...

Have you thought of applying sound deadening material over that after it cures for a good week?

That’s what I was thinking. Knowing people who have done this to their trucks & Jeeps; fun for a while.

Haven’t noticed any difference in temp or noise level, was already noisy from the 37s

What about all the electronics?
What electronics? This is a base model with few to begin with. The plastic panels cover the main harness. Honestly, it was worse with the carpet, the carpet would hold moisture around the wiring, now it’s able to dry
