Added front + side cameras using NAViKS

Is it possible to get a factory front camera and use it with the Naviks interface?

If it’s the same video signal the Naviks accepts, possibly. Not a whole lot of advantage in doing that though. The Sync system doesn’t know about the Naviks device nor the camera connected to it at all.

I did the same upgrade last week. I love having the cameras. The install was a chore but worth it in the end.

I drilled a hole in the plastic cover of the side mirrors. You can thread the wire into the engine compartment and through the firewall grommet into the cabin

Gotcha. Don’t know what the plate looks like, but I guess you could adapt it to hold whichever camera you want. Drill a hole if necessary.

I asked Naviks, this is what they told me:
" The original camera is LVDS and will not work with our unit, it will only accept a composite (RCA) (CVBS) signal. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank You"

Yes the device goes between the screen and the rest of the dash essentially. The Naviks folks can answer other questions you might have. I had the 8” screen model, so could be some things are slightly different.
