3M makes the vast majority of PFAS (coolant used in the production of semiconductors). They make them at a plant in Belgium. The plant is being shut down in order to make improvements to comply with EU emissions standards. Since the cost is 150 million Euro, it's a pretty good guess that the plant will be shut down for a while.

Sounds like the kind of thing that is planned many years in advance. The kind of thing where all customers would have plenty of notice time to find alternative sources.

Sounds like the kind of thing that is planned many years in advance. The kind of thing where all customers would have plenty of notice time to find alternative sources.
3M supplies almost all of the semiconductor grade PFAS. If the foundries stockpiled them, maybe, but I don't believe there is an "alternative source".
