I was wanting to replace the 275/70/18 on my stock OBX wheels with the Toyo 285/75/17 on Wildtrak wheels. Is there any positives to this as I am only changing size by .6 in height, .4 in width, and with the offset going from +55 to +30 it will be 1.18" more poke which I don't know that I want with the stock fender flares. In the end the minimal gains may not be worth the 2.7-3k outweigh in cost, in addition to adding a heavier tire setting out more. Wish I could have made this change when I took possession of the vehicle & put the 275s on, but ....
If anyone has a similar set up & photos would be appreciated.
Thanks,

This is a great question. I have reviewed the 180+ page "show us your wheels" thread. I would like to see what a slightly bigger tire on a +30 offset wheel looks like with non SAS flairs.

I personally believe the stock wheels are sucked in too much but I dont want sas flairs with a zero offset wheel.

I would love to see some pics. TIA

Literally just did this. Will work on a more detailed post since there are no good definitive answers for this tire on the obx anywhere on this form.

These are method 703s with a +35 offset. They just fit snug as a glove. The guys at tire rack who did my install were skeptical.

Nice tire size for the 2-door. I wonder though if you could maybe use a mild lift, to get a bit more room between the top of tire and wheel arch? Maybe max 1" lift.

stock bd wheels and tires for comparison

its worth doing because it will make you happy, it looks better, and will separate you from the rest even if its a little

Your current specs vs what you want to run

Nice, what are you running for a suspension? I have 5100s set up 1.5" so it should be similar.

thanks for the details. That 9” wide rtr wheel makes the tire look thicker. I think that’s the setup I’m going with. I like the everglades wheel but the rtr is it.
thanks again

Slightly different size but this was my original setup after ditching the 18” OBX tire/wheel. I replaced with 285/70-17 tires on the Sasquatch+30mm offset wheel. Basically just the shoulder sticking out.
