I have had my ARB sliders ordered for about a month now at 4WP so I called to see what's up.

According to 4WP ARB rep, they will not be released until June/July.

Maybe Cable Guy works for ARB but it seems the rest of us will have to wait.

wondering what the actual cross section shape is because I'm seeing 2 different styles. One appears to have a reasonably flat/horizontal step surface and the other seems angled and would make a lousy step.

The one on the blue bronco was pre-production. The set on the red one is what we should expect to see.

Talked to an ARB rep Friday, first shipment landed in USA last week. We should start seeing these hit doors in a week or two.

Are you hoping to use them to stand on to access roof?

Not a chance, most of the trails around me turn into tippy rock gardens eventually and I don't want any weight up top with a roof rack causing a higher center of gravity. Ill let you know what they are like to step on when they come in though.

Can confirm, they are not good steps. The angle is steep and the its maybe 1.5 inches of step area. Might as well just open the door and use the sills at that point.

Install was time consuming. The passenger side requires cutting the OEM gas tank skid, both require fishing nuts through the frame and some minor griding around bolt holes. I had 4WP do the passenger side and they took 2 HRS at $350....

They drag much more than OEM skids since they are lower but they are probably 40 lbs heavier on each side. Frame mount vs body mount etc.

Reviving this thread. Would you buy these again after having used them for about a year? I'm torn between these or the stock Ford sliders.

The ARB sliders and the ford sliders are on opposite sides of the coin.

The ARBs are meant to take a heavy beating, but you pay a penalty in pounds, cost, mounting, and ease of getting in and out of the vehicle.

The stock Ford sliders are light duty in terms of coverage, and wont serve as a practical pivot point out in the rocks. However they are never in the way getting in and out, very cheap/free second hand.

For the price point I would buy these again.

If I were to double/triple the budget, I would get the next venture motorsports entire skid system.
