The only issue with rivets is if you ever need to disconnect the camera you'll have to drill them out. I wonder if you could find some lower profile hardware.
Curious, have you guys noticed the rivits loosening? In reverse it looks like "The Ring", the camera shakes. I need to drill them out and put new ones in... it was tight when I first installed them.

What got me in this thread, was a call from the tire/alignment shop (37" KO2's)... my spare tire studs were spinning! Grrr. They're pulling it off and welding the studs. Not happy, but better it happen to them than me out on the trail. I'll call RTR, those weren't over torqued by me. I've had my spare on/off about 5 times with rotations and other reasons..
