Having adopted soft shackles and not liking the sacrificed departure clearance and aesthetics of the rear factory recovery points, I picked up these beautiful, beefy MHI Rock Rings.

Solid 7075-T6, CNCed, aluminum. 15,000 lb working load, 60,000+ lb breaking strength. I calculated the bolts would probably shear first around 20,000 lb

EDIT: According to MHI on strength: The OEM bolts failed at around 35,000lbs. We then tried Grade 8 bolts, those failed at around 30,000lbs

Second pic shows the view standing behind the truck. They are invisible!

Install is trivial, use low strength blue loctite (as the factory did) and torque to 59 ft lb.

That's a legitimate concern/reservation @Doc TOC . My plan (and backup) to easily avoid any such occurrence of this "problem" is very simple.

1. I always carry my soft shackles
2. I have and carry a Hitchlink

These may not have quite the same flexibility as the giant ugly loop things from the factory, but the factory front of the truck doesn't have that flexibility either.

My concern would be having my recovery points being tucked so far under my rig. Depending on the angle of the recovery, the soft shackle or recovery rope could easily be scraping across the bottom of my rig.

I’ve got a pair of well scraped up “giant ugly loop things” for sale.

They needed to go and this one good solution. Seems like a good, clean first step to clearing the departure area. And as you say, if you carry soft shackles and a hitch point (I do too) there is really no down side to this swap out,

The only potential down side going forward is when you discover that the next low point is your OEM bumper and those hooks likely become obsolete. I just opted to make the expensive leap straight to the aftermarket bumper.
