Yea, yea, quit laughing because someone will want to do a restoration some day and this MIGHT be helpful.

Me, I bought some SAS takeoff shocks and figured I'd touch them up before I put them on because I just happened to have the paint on the shelf.

The color? Caterpillar Yellow

Go ahead, laugh it up, but there are many shades of yellow out there. I got lucky and touching up the shocks cost nothing. Heck, I think this paint was $5 at the local Runnings 🤷‍♂️

Enjoy. If this was helpful, show us your work. If not, move along...

Well I’m not laughing. Nothing wrong wanting to keep your vehicle looking good. Thanks for the tip.

Not a bad idea. Can you post photos of the shocks painted?

I only needed to touch up the bottoms of both and the side of one. The color appears to be exact.

I agree the color match does look spot on. They look good👌

Which brand of ceramic sealant/polish is best for these? How long after the paint dries should we wait before polishing? I'm assuming, of course, that this paint works OK with 37" tires?

I was waiting for this reply. You did not disappoint.
Good find though. Mine are sandblasted and rusting already. I'm probably replacing them with Icons or Hoss 3.0 at some point.

Exactly why I touched mine up. Rust is a constant battle anywhere they salt the roads.

I'd stay away from Icons or any zinc galvanized body shock unless you never drive your rig in the winter or you live in the desert southwest.

I have the non-threaded Icons in the front already so they should hold up a bit better but I think they're just anodized bodies. I won't live anywhere that salts though so I shouldn't have it too bad.

There is a market for used squatch shocks? Did you buy them with the springs? Just curious because I have a set laying around w/o springs.

I would say so. If I recall you can buy other coils that will go on them, Eibachs maybe?

Full decent coilovers that give you a decent lift over stock for a fraction of the price of other options. IDK was the going rate without springs would be.
