it’s not paint. It is a vinyl wrap. Any damage and you just peel it off and rewrap it.

I'm not sure about matte paint but I have a vinyl wrapped satin black car and maintaining it has been way easier than the original gloss black color. It's been 4 years and the wrap still looks great, and I'm not even too careful with it. I use touchless washes all the time which they say you're not supposed to do but it's been fine.

Matte paint though will probably be impossible to fix scratches on cleanly without repainting the whole panel. If I got a matte paint I'd probably wrap it with xpel for protection.

After 3 consecutive blacked-out vehicles, in dusty Phoenix no less, I'm ready to move onto something lighter. Don't get me wrong, in my opinion a sparkling clean vehicle in black is still probably the pinnacle of "badassness", but I'm tired of the dirt, dust, scratches, and heat.

If there is to be a matte color choice by Ford, I'd take it.
