Boat Towing - Is it doable?

Greetings,

Been searching around and haven't found an answer, but, has anyone towed a small boat with their Bronco? I have a small boat I want to buy, 19 feet, about 3k pounds in total(boat, engine, trailer, gas, gear) but not sure if the Bronco is capable of towing it comfortably. A truck is definitely the better option but just wanted to see if anyone has towed small boats yet and what their experience has been.

It really should be fine either way, bronco is rated for 3500lbs, and those ratings are typically conservative for the worst possible case.

That’s my plan. I’ll use it to tow a 18’ alumacraft. I ordered the v6

That link is to my post towing a 19 foot Yamaha jet boat. Granted my time was limited due to the winter, but towed it no problem and better than what I have previously towed it with. Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you. I have a Tacoma and Bronco. Tacoma never towed that great but has a higher weight rating. This was my biggest concern with the Bronco. As questions come to mind I will definitely message you. Thanks so much.

Side note, considering just putting Kings on right away and I assume that will help a bit.

Honestly, in my opinion if you are within the tow rating and gross vehicle weight, having proper balance and tongue weight is more important.

The Bronco has plenty of power and braking for a 3k lb trailer. It's the suspension that is the limiting factor. That can be aided by having a correct tongue weight and making sure your trailer is balanced.

Depending on your tongue weight, I will say if its towards the upper 350lb range, the rear bronco suspension will sag if you have a badlands.

I pick up my bronco next weekish and my bayliner e18 in March. So I'll be about the same as you. I don't see any problems

Haven’t towed a boat, but I’ve towed trailers of similar weight several times. The Bronco handles it like a champ. Could hardly tell I was hauling something.
