Bread Crumbs in Navigation System?

So i have notice these brown dots showing up on my nave screen. They are not glitches in the screen itself but seem to be some sort of trail being generated by the navigation software. Anyone know what is up here?

Yes, that's a feature you can turn off.

I did not opt for the Connected Built-in Nav. My trial has since ended - I don't see how I can turn off the breadcrumbs. Because I do not have the subscription, there is very limited options in the Nav screen. Any help?

Do we know what triggers the system to generate them? I see how to turn the feature off, but i am at a loss as to what its for really.

I've always thought it was a tool for seeing exactly where you have driven. I suppose is you are exploring an unknown area, the breadcrumbs will give frame of reference.
