They have been doing that for years on Jeeps and trucks. It’s a cool idea but very limited practically.
why? is the weight too much for the tracks to be effective?

Yes, too much ground pressure to float on top. Steering system can't take the load either.
This is my work ride. It "only" weighs about 7500lbs, and look how much bigger the tracks and steering system is. Dana 60s with E lockers as well

I've helped setup plenty of vehicles with tracks for use on the tundra of the north slope of Alaska. From SUVs, pickups, flatbeds and these pipeline inspection trucks. The tracks do a great job on various vehicles.

Under the "right" conditions they have their place for sure. You won't be blasting fresh tracks in the wilderness, but they do allow vehicles traverse packed trails with "some" fresh snow. Those tracks you show are significant;y heavier duty that the Wildtraks. Weight is good and bad in this case.

Invoice on the sno-cat was around $200k though (with the trailer)

These vehicles bust trail across vast areas of absolute wilderness, definitely not perfect conditions or a trail of any kind at the start of the season.

That chevy above completed with tracks was $230k. We built 4 identical. The body alone was over 100k.

Right tool for the job is all.

Looks awesome but pretty soon it's going to have that 4-piece tie rod set 😲
