My friend is the proud new owner of a 2022 Bronco Wildrrak, and she wants to remove the factory installed roof rack. The previous owner was unable to find the special triangle tool required remove the rear bolts that attach the roof rack.
It is a $49 Ford part - but it is out of stock across Canada. I have tried the local dealership service departments and they say they don’t have the tool.
Removing a roof rack shouldn’t be this hard!!! Hoping maybe somebody in the LMD of BC - preferably Langley/Surrey - might have one we can borrow?

I have no idea if this will help but, you might try reaching out to Mabett. They sell a version of the oem roof rack we can add and surely it comes with a tool. Although I have no idea if it's a duplicate. Otherwise maybe dealers on our side of the border will sell/ship you one?

Sorry I can't be further help. Too far away to loan it to you.

Good luck.

Have they tried going to a local dealership and see if they have one she can borrow for 30 seconds? Might get lucky - I’d help you out, but I have a soft top, sorry.

The tool is in the ford tool kit in the zipper pocket. Did the original owner lose the tool or just steal the entire tool kit from you?

And as mentioned, the Mabett rear bar comes with one that works identical to the factory (with the torque click built in). Of course that bar is $125 so there is that.

If you just need to barrow it for a second, I'd seriously go find a Bronco owner driving around and ask them. I can barely go anywhere without seeing several now.

You can get the tool need for the security bolt rom Fastenal, or similar place that sells security bolts and screws.

Just have to do with out the torq setting.

I just bought a used Bronco. Unlike you I’m missing the security bolt - which I’d like to have. The roof rack was in the back of the Bronco, but one bolt was missing. I’m playing hell with Ford to get it replaced (I installed a hex head and used my calibrated arm to set the correct specs). Even called FOMCO, no dice. There’s no part number, too bad so sad.

Solution found: Needle-nose pliers. These “tamper proof”

@Mabett are you able to sell the tool separately?

Do you still need the tool? I can sell you one for what you think is fair.

But without the tool, you can't really tighten them back down to torque. I would take them up on their offer or maybe look on eBay (unless you're never planning on putting the rack back on)

I didn’t see this tool in my toolkit.

Anyone else find this tool? I saw something about a tool for Volvos that might work but no one confirmed that it actually worked.

I just read that thread. The person just ordered it a few days ago and will report back if it works.
