Mine worked for a day or two when first released (a year ago?) and hasn't worked since. I have no patience or ability with tech, so there it sets.

Due to your user name I'll mention: We were at Death Valley/Joshua Tree/Lakes Havasu and Mohave for a couple weeks and my Android Auto enabled Google maps wouldn't work either. It would find us every couple days then stick there. As I said, no patience or ability with such things.

My chief complaint with OnX Offroad around the time the bronco came to market was that the app really didn't seem to like losing and regaining connectivity to the Internet, it made the app so unusable that off-road even with signal I would typically put my phone into airplane mode. That particular issue has gone away, but there was a time where I found Gaia to be much more reliable in that regard.

I have Onx hunt and it is apparantly not compatible with Android Auto like Onx Off Road. But I'll be damned if I'll pay for both

I haven't really done anything off road before the Bronco, so Bronco app was my first exposure to an off road app.

I have since also tried OnX, Trails Offroad, and Gaia.

I still go back to Bronco - for one, it's free. But it's definitely the lesser of all those various apps. I just don't go off road enough to justify another annual subscription (or I go often enough that I don't want to be cycling through new email addresses to get new free 7-day trials).

I used to get a lot of errors with it, when I would be out of cell range, then drift back into range for a bit, and the app would suddenly decide that i need to log back in, but wouldn't be able to reconnect to do so. Or if I shut off the Bronco at a pit stop, then when I get going again Sync would decide it couldn't re-open the app even though it was running ok on the phone and I'd just have to prop the phone up.

It's not a very complete or robust solution, especially compared to those other 3. But.. I guess you get what you pay for. Very annoying that they lock it down so tightly to the Bronco and that makes the app that much less useful.

If I had to pay for one, I don't know which I would chose. I probably just keep going back to the Bronco app because it was the first I used, so it's the more familiar option. I have trouble reading the maps on OnX but it has awesome CarPlay integration. Gaia and Trails Offroad seem roughly equal, but I have only used each for about an hour or so, and their limited trials didn't allow me to try everything out so I didn't get too into either of them.

At Off Rodeo - all the guides there said they couldn't even use the Bronco app, because none of them owned Broncos personally and they couldn't get access to it with the leased Broncos there. One recommended OnX, the other Gaia - and basically said if you go wheeling with other people, go use whatever they all use too.
