I know that the delays have been crazy, but Ford has told everyone that if you have a vin you will be getting a MY21. Dirt mountain and all.

The most I’ve seen with a Vin was someone was able to make a color change.

I believe the Vin has much of the build specs in it. So to change the build would require a Vin change.

I think Ford will get these Broncos built in MY21, so it could be a moot point. The problem might be more relevant to F-150s waiting many months for chips. But let's think this through.

At some point in December, MY21 ends and the plant is retooled for MY22. At that point, no more MY21s can be built, so if an Act of God (or an Act of Webasto) prevents the parts associated with a VIN from being assembled before that date, the Bronco can no longer be a MY21.

MY is embedded in the VIN. Also, parts change for MY22. Also, MY21 colors and potentially other options are being deleted. So at that point, the old VIN is dead and represents a collection of parts that can no longer be assembled into a vehicle.

Everyone getting a MY22 will have to reorder, and will get a new VIN. Seems like Ford would be okay with you making changes then, since theoretically you could refuse to place a MY22 order entirely.
