Anyone done this? The prices including delivery is way cheaper than buying from a local tire store. I've even noticed some of the ebay sellers are big names (simpletire) that sell for hundreds less than through their own store online. Anyone think of any reason not to do this?

thx cheers

Yes. I bought off ebay once and the tires were old stock nearing the expected lifespan of the tires. There is a date code stamped on tires when they are manufactured. Most suggest replacing tires after 6 - 10 years regardless of tread depth. I'm sure this is not the case with every seller but that is my one and only experience doing that and won't do it again. Who knows where some of these dealers get their discounted stock. Probably no big deal if they were stored properly but hard to tell and good luck with warranty claims.

I've always had great luck with Discount Tire and they price match anyhow. Not sure if they price match ebay stuff but any other online retailer like tirebuyer.com they will.

I've purchased several sets on ebay from reputable sellers w/o issue. Definitely some very good deals.

I only buy tires online. Saves a fortune over local. Have tried ebay, amazon, discount tire, tire america. No bad experiences yet. You just have to shop around for mounting, it can be $10-30 per tire.

I've bought 2 or 3 sets off Ebay. No issues. TireBuyer was the last seller.
