Cargo light turning on by itself.

Recently installed the cargo light and have had it turn itself on twice now. Once in -20F weather, and again yesterday at 10F.

This is a problem, as when closed, it's aimed directly at the driver and rear view mirror. Is there another switch besides touch that would fit in the unit?

I’ve had this happen twice as well. I live in the Bay Area so weather was not an issue.

Do you have it hardwired in to the 12V?

I keep mine unplugged, but when I have left it plugged in I haven’t had any issues with mine turning on.

No. I am, however, going to hardwire it and put it on a magnetic switch to auto-on, the way it should work.

This shit is really annoying and potentially dangerous. The touch switch is garbage.

What do you mean by magnetic switch? So that it comes on when the rear glass is opened?

I’ve considered opening it up and replacing the capacitive touch button with a physical one.

Yes. Lift glass, get light. Looked into a tilt switch, but couldn't find a decent one.

I'll be doing the physical switch first, probably, as I have a ton laying around. Not wild about drilling into and rewiring a new product, but here we are.

Not surprised another Mabett light gets wonky. My dome light seems to have a mind of it's own.

A PM and I got a refund almost immediately. Hard to find better service these days.

I had this same issue and also got a refund. Mabett said they may be making one with a physical switch would I'd prefer.
